Uses

HDDMA crosslinks free-radical reactive systems. Evonik’s TDS identifies photoresists and photopolymer plates, while Kowa describes UV/electron-beam curing and anaerobic adhesives. Medical or dental use requires separate exact-grade qualification.

Industry & market uses

Relevant application markets are photoresists, printing plates, coatings, inks and adhesives. Kowa lists automotive/plastic coatings and UV inkjet inks. No market-size number or market share has been adopted, and data for hexanediol diacrylate have been excluded because it is a different chemical.

Is it considered green?

The supplied documents do not establish renewable origin or an overall environmental advantage. Radiation curing is an application technology, not a green certification for this monomer or finished product. The supplied Polysciences grade has irritation and sensitization hazards, and inhibitor choice, exposure and finished-formulation testing still matter.

Supplier-grade safety context

The supplied Polysciences SDS classifies skin irritation (H315), eye irritation (H320) and skin sensitization (H317).

Questions for human review (9)
  • Evonik degree of purity ≥93.0% is distinct from reactive ester ≥98.0%. Polysciences min. 98% is a separate grade; do not merge the assay claims.
  • Only kinematic viscosity 6.33 mm²/s at 20 °C is supplied; do not populate a dynamic-viscosity field from it.
  • Polysciences SDS flash point is printed “> ≥200” without a unit and is withheld. Evonik’s 117 °C closed-cup benchmark is for the Evonik grade.
  • Evonik TDS prints approximate boiling temperature 190 °C at “1,013 hPa” and solidification point +2.11 °C. These have been visually checked as printed but need current supplier confirmation before procurement or comparison decisions.
  • Evonik stabilization is 200 ±20 ppm MEHQ; this must not be assumed for another supplier grade.
  • Kowa page has the matching CAS but an EC number that differs from the supplied sources; its EC number is not imported.
  • Hexanediol diacrylate (CAS 13048-33-4) is different from this dimethacrylate (CAS 6606-59-3); search results and hazards for the former have been excluded.
  • The TDS is dated June 2020; its reference number also contains 05/2018. Obtain current supplier documents.
  • No EcoSafe category or human verification has been assigned.

Technical properties

Evonik VISIOMER 1,6-HDDMA: supplier example with its own specification and benchmark physical data. Page 1 specifications are distinguished from page 2 benchmark physical data, which the supplier explicitly excludes from the specification. Degree of purity is ≥93.0%; reactive ester content is separately ≥98%. MEHQ stabilization is 200 ± 20 ppm. The Polysciences SDS describes a separate grade and must not be used to certify Evonik composition. No pH or ambiguous unitless Polysciences flash-point result has been imported. The only viscosity in this TDS is kinematic: 6.33 mm²/s at 20 °C (DIN 51562). Dynamic viscosity is not provided and has not been calculated.
