Uses
BDDMA is a bifunctional monomer that crosslinks during free-radical curing. Evonik describes reactive coatings, composite resins, PVC plastisols and elastomer coagent uses. The exact formulation and cure conditions require qualified testing.
Industry & market uses
Application tags include composites, coatings, elastomers, adhesives and sealants. GEO additionally lists chemical anchors, acrylic flooring, synthetic marble and UV-curable wood coatings for its own BDDMA grade. These examples do not establish interchangeability among suppliers.
Is it considered green?
No grade-specific renewable-content certificate or life-cycle comparison is supplied. Use as a reactive diluent does not by itself establish a greener finished product. The supplied Polysciences grade has skin-irritation and sensitization hazards; low odour or low viscosity should not be read as proof of safety.
Supplier-grade safety context
The supplied Polysciences SDS classifies skin irritation (H315) and skin sensitization (H317).

- Degree of purity ≥90.00% is not the same as reactive ester content ≥98.00%. Do not list the Evonik grade as ≥98% pure BDDMA.
- Evonik TDS is dated June 2020; its reference number also contains 10/2014. Obtain current data for procurement.
- Polysciences SDS min. 90% and Evonik VISIOMER specifications are separate supplier scopes.
- Polysciences SDS flash point is printed as “> ≥200” with no unit. Do not import it; Evonik’s 139 °C closed-cup benchmark belongs only to the Evonik grade.
- Evonik boiling result is >211 °C at pressure printed “1,025 hPa” with polymerisation noted. Do not treat as an uncomplicated normal boiling point.
- Inhibitor stabilization (100 ±10 ppm MEHQ) is grade-specific; the shelf-life statement is six months at maximum 30 °C from delivery, not a general storage instruction for other grades.
- GEO marketing language such as non-toxic or old risk-phrase claims has not been adopted as a safety conclusion.
- No EcoSafe category or human verification has been assigned.

Technical properties
Evonik VISIOMER 1,4-BDDMA: supplier example with its own specification and benchmark physical data. Page 1 specifications are distinguished from page 2 benchmark physical data, which the supplier explicitly excludes from the specification. Degree of purity is ≥90.00%; reactive ester content is separately ≥98%. MEHQ stabilization is 100 ± 10 ppm. The Polysciences SDS describes a separate grade and must not be used to certify Evonik composition. No pH or ambiguous unitless Polysciences flash-point result has been imported.
